Long-term structured storage of university data, merged across functional areas and system units, for reporting, analysis, and decision making purposes.
Scope
To all UTSA entities. To any university entity when the data is of interest to UTSA.
Description
Extract, transform, and load data from source systems into a centralized repository for data that has system-wide benefit.
Scope
To anyone willing to let BI keep a copy of the data for UTSA purposes and when the data is of interest to UTSA and/or multiple campuses/institutes.
Description
Semantic modeling of data for ease of reporting use and provision of a platform for deploying and accessing such models.
Scope
To any university entity when the project meets BI acceptance guidelines.
Description
Provision of reporting platforms for paginated and interactive reports. Currently offering Power BI Report Server and SAP Business Warehouse.
Scope
To any university entity interested in experimenting with the reporting infrastructure we provide, subject to support and computing capacity. To any university entity when the project meets BI acceptance guidelines.
Description
Providing data and client facing tools for analyzing and visualizing data and sharing those analyses and visualizations, but not doing actual data analysis. Does not currently include machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data mining algorithms or tools.

To university entities when the project meets BI acceptance guidelines, subject to approval by local campus/institute service unit (IT, IR, BI) approval.
Description
Providing a process for identifying elements that need definition and providing a centralized location for storage and sharing of data definitions and the parties responsible for those definitions. Actual definitions come from functional areas, not BI.

To all UTSA entities. To all university entities requiring agreement on data definitions across campus/institute/UTSA boundaries.
Description
Custom consulting services for establishing business intelligence solutions, data modelling guidelines, identifying and resolving data related problems, configuring environments, customization of BW queries and reports, etc.
Scope
To any university entity, subject to approval by local campus/institute service unit (IT, IR, BI) approval.
Description
Providing a platform for running R scripts against centrally reposed data, but not writing R scripts.
Scope
To university entities when the project meets BI acceptance guidelines, subject to approval by local campus/institute service unit (IT, IR, BI) approval.
Description
Fixing and adjusting existing BI assets to resolve problems or failures in design, and maintenance and upgrade of BI infrastructure.
Scope
To university entities utilizing UTSA-ITS-BI managed infrastructure.
Description
Curating training resources from UT and third parties, pointing clients to those training resources, and in some cases delivering custom training to clients.
Scope
To all university entities, subject to UTSA-ITS-BI resource availability.
The following services are not currently offered on a regular basis, but are under consideration as future offerings.
Artificial Intelligence
Providing standards, examples, and consulting on developing AI solutions such as chatbots, cognitive services, text analytics, etc.
Data Integration Hub
Providing campus or unit level access to data from source systems, e.g. Cayuse to UTIA, and from the university to third party partners (e.g. EAB).
Data Governance
Defining a university-wide data governance process and providing a platform for the management and execution of this process.
Geocoding
Providing geocoding information for data records, e.g., coordinates, political districts, etc.
